Republicans rally against Hillary Clinton’s planned Nevada stops

Republican leaders plan to launch a counteroffensive intended to undercut Hillary Clinton as she travels to Nevada this week.
The Republican National Committee will have a press conference Wednesday in Las Vegas, one day before Clinton speaks in Nevada, featuring Lt. Gov. Mark Hutchison and former U.S. Treasurer Rosario Marin, the first immigrant in that job.
They’ll talk about Clinton’s record and the GOP’s “commitment to the Hispanic community,” according to the committee’s event advisory, obtained by the Review-Journal.
Clinton will speak Thursday at the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials’ annual conference at the Aria. She also will visit Northern Nevada after leaving Las Vegas.
The Republican National Committee also will send out a 30-second anti-Clinton spot aimed at Nevada’s swing and GOP voters. The spot, which will be spread on social media applications, is headlined “Wrong For America.” It uses snippets of news stories to call into question her honesty and connection to everyday people, but makes no new revelations.
The video has or will be targeting voters as Clinton visits them in other swing states, including New Hampshire, South Carolina and Iowa.
The GOP committee’s two-pronged approach reflects Nevada’s role as a swing state in the West and its standing as a favored backdrop for Clinton to speak about immigration issues. In a May 5 visit to Rancho High School, Clinton called for comprehensive immigration reform and a “path to full and equal citizenship.”
Clinton’s campaign on Tuesday didn’t respond to inquiries from the Review-Journal about the GOP ad.
