Route 159 wreck kills motorcyclist

A motorcyclist was killed Thursday evening in a wreck on state Route 159 near Red Rock Canyon, authorities said.

Emergency workers were called about 8 p.m. The cause of the wreck was unavailable.

The driver was taken to University Medical Center and pronounced dead, said trooper Kevin Honea of the Nevada Highway Patrol.

Whether the Nevada Highway Patrol or the Metropolitan Police Department would be investigating the wreck was unclear because of jurisdictional issues.

The identity of the motorcyclist was not known.
