RTC picks new chief

The Regional Transportation Commission board voted unanimously Thursday to draw up a contract and promote Deputy General Manager Tina Quigley to general manager. She replaces Jacob Snow, who was hired as Henderson city manager last month.

Quigley, 44, has a degree in aviation business and planning from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott, Ariz.

Quigley's interest in transportation started early. She earned her pilot's license and started flying when she was 16. Her 20 years of experience in the transportation field includes working as the assistant director of planning and construction for the Clark County Department of Aviation.

She joined the Regional Transportation Commission in 2005 as the deputy general manager, overseeing the bus rapid transit projects and the construction of the agency's three new park-and-ride facilities.

"Over the past decade, the RTC has experienced remarkable success in meeting the growing transit and transportation needs of Southern Nevada," Larry Brown, chairman of the commission, said Thursday. "We are confident that Tina will continue that success and further the vision that has earned the RTC the distinction as being one of the most efficient transit providers in the nation."

Reflecting her energetic personality, Quigley pumped her fists in the air when the commission voted to name her general manager.

"I think I can do this job," she said. "I think I can do it well because of the competency, the trust and the chemistry of the team we've built."

Quigley won the National Association of Women Business Owner's 2011 Woman of Distinction Award for Government Services. In 2009, she was recognized as one of Southern Nevada's Women to Watch by In Business Las Vegas. The same publication named her one of the community's Top 40 business people under 40.

Quigley serves on the Clark County School District Audit Advisory Committee and is working to form a parent advocacy group to encourage parents to get involved in legislative issues related to education.

She and her husband, Dale, have two children, Alyssa and Aidan.
