Salem re-elected mayor of Kingman, Ariz.

John Salem has been re-elected mayor of the northwest Arizona community of Kingman.

When the ballot count was completed Thursday for Tuesday's primary election, Salem had received more than 56 percent of the vote. He turned back challenges from Bill Goodale and Ed Jones.

By getting a majority in the primary, Salem avoided a runoff in the general election and secured a third two-year term.

In the race for three Kingman City Council seats, six candidates advanced to the general election in May. In order of finish, they were Larry Carver, Mark Wimpee, Carole Young, Robin Gordon, Janice Palmer and Kelly DeMaio. Young and Gordon are incumbents.
