Salt Lake police arrest couple wanted in LV
A couple wanted in Las Vegas in the death of their 2-month-old son in 2006 were arrested Monday in Utah.
Thomas Ryan Williams and Cristal Perez, both 21, were in custody of the Salt Lake County sheriff's office Wednesday after being arrested on New Year's Eve, sheriff's Sgt. Paul Long said.
Long said Williams was arrested on a child abuse charge from Salt Lake City, while Perez was arrested on a Las Vegas warrant for child neglect with substantial bodily harm.
He said Williams' arrest stemmed from a separate charge unrelated to the Las Vegas case.
Officer Jose Montoya, a spokesman for the Metropolitan Police Department, said Williams also was wanted in Las Vegas on charges of murder by child abuse and murder by child neglect.
Montoya said the Las Vegas charges stemmed from the death of the couple's 2-month-old boy in January 2006. He said he believed the couple fled Southern Nevada after the death. The couple were residents of Magna, just west of Salt Lake City.
Primary Children's Hospital officials called Salt Lake City police Sunday after doctors said the children of Williams and Perez had suffered multiple injuries.
The 5-week-old and 1-year-old girls had multiple bone fractures, authorities in Salt Lake City said.
