Search in Elko fails to find missing man

ELKO — An aerial search has failed to find a 78-year-old Elko man who family members say was planning to go fishing before he was reported missing about a week ago.

Elko police Lt. Ty Trouten said the Civil Air Patrol was looking for leads on the disappearance of Louis Tempel.

Tempel’s son, Trent, told the Elko Free Press on Monday that his mother was out of town for the June 4-5 weekend, and his father was reported missing after failing to showed up to pick up a friend for a fishing trip.

Tempel’s truck was gone, but his fishing gear was still in the garage.
