Service restored to 15,000 phone customers

Embarq Corp. this morning reported that it had restored telephone service to 15,000 phone customers who lost service when an equipment operator accidentally cut underground cables in downtown Las Vegas Wednesday.

All mobile phone service, Internet service and data services are operating, said spokesman Vicki Soares.

About 60,000 customers, including about 40,000 data transmission customers were affected by the outage.
