Seven unrestrained children were in car when three fell out
One of two mothers charged with multiple counts of child endangerment after three children fell out of a moving PT Cruiser admitted to driving drunk Sunday with 10 people in the car, including seven unrestrained children under the age of 9, a Las Vegas police report states.
Three of the children suffered injuries when they fell out of the moving vehicle about 5:30 p.m. Sunday on Bruce Street near Owens Avenue.
The driver, 28-year-old Nancy Lopez who is the mother of one of the victims, a 3-year-old boy, was arrested on driving under the influence and multiple child endangerment charges.
The mother of 14-month-old twins who also fell from the vehicle, 19-year-old Vanessa Ramirez, was charged for knowingly putting her children in a dangerous situation, the report states. Ramirez was not in the car.
One of the twins, whose wounds included bleeding from the nose after falling from the car and rolling in the intersection, was listed in good condition at University Medical Center today. The boy had been in critical condition Monday.
When an officer asked Lopez what happened Sunday, the woman replied, "I have no idea. We were driving around. The door opened up and they fell out. I am going to jail, aren't I?" the police report states.
Lopez and Ramirez were being held at the Clark County Detention Center this morning.
