‘Shack’ author to speak at local fundraiser

William Paul Young, author of the best-selling novel "The Shack," will be the focus of a fundraiser for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Las Vegas on April 12 at Christ the King Catholic Community, 4925 S. Torrey Pines Drive.

An author reception will take place at 5 p.m. and will include refreshments, preferred seating and a book signing. The cost is $100.

Young will speak at 7 p.m. about how the story he first intended for his children turned into a New York Times best-seller. A $40 ticket is needed for this event.

Tickets are available at bgclv.wordpress.com or by cash or check only at the church from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. weekdays.

The event is sponsored by MaryKaye Cashman, with the venue donated by the church.
