Shakespeare Company moves downtown

The award-winning Las Vegas Shakespeare Company celebrated its move to downtown's cultural corridor April 23, the 448th birthday of Shakespeare himself, with a 24-hour Bard-a-Thon. Approximately 100 readers from throughout the valley joined the company staff in a nonstop reading of Shakespeare's works.

Previously, the Las Vegas Shakespeare Company held its rehearsals at Opportunity Village on Buffalo Drive and kept stage props in a warehouse. Its new home is in the 33,000-square-foot Reed Whipple Cultural Center, 821 Las Vegas Blvd. North. The building is being retrofitted to include two performance spaces, scene and costume shops, rehearsal space, offices, classrooms, a gift shop and storage.

The company produces six productions each year.
