Six injured in accident involving police officers
Two Las Vegas police officers suffered minor injuries in a Thursday morning accident that sent six people to the hospital, police said.
The officers' patrol car was struck by a vehicle whose driver ran a stop sign at the intersection of Maryland Parkway and Cactus Avenue about 8:30 a.m., police said.
The two officers and a civilian riding in the patrol car were transported to University Medical Center with minor injuries. Three people in the other car were transported to UMC, one with severe injuries.
"There were reports that he was having trouble remaining conscious," officer Marcus Martin, a police spokesman, said of the person with severe injuries.
Maryland and Cactus are closed to traffic for the investigation.
