Sixth-grader arrested for bringing unloaded gun to school

An Ed Von Tobel Middle School student was arrested Tuesday for having a gun at school, Clark County School District police said.

School police Lt. Ken Young said an unidentified sixth-grade girl was arrested after administrators received a tip she had a gun in her possession about 8:30 a.m.

The student came to the office and administrators recovered a .25-caliber handgun, Young said. The gun was not loaded.

She was arrested by school police for possession of a dangerous weapon on school property and taken to a juvenile facility, Young said.

The school, which is near Pecos Road and Carey Avenue, was not placed on lockdown, he said.

"There was no disruption of the school day at all," Young said.
