Ski tickets available to those who buy Lake Tahoe plates

A conservation group aims to boost funding for Lake Tahoe environmental programs by giving away free ski tickets with the purchase of a specialty license plate.

The Tahoe Fund announced its "Plate for Powder" program on Thursday. Anyone who buys a Lake Tahoe license plate in California or Nevada will receive two free Alpine or Nordic ski tickets to the resort of their choice.

The specialty plates must be purchased between Dec. 12 and 2011 and April 15 next year.

Ski tickets are valid for the current season while supplies last.
