Solar plant near Primm approved

The Secretary of the Interior announced the approval of a new solar plant to be built in Primm as part of President Barack Obama’s Climate Action Plan.

The 250-megawatt project will take up 2,400 acres of land near Stateline and is expected to power approximately 80,000 homes.

“With today’s milestone of 50-utility scale renewable energy projects approved on public lands since our standing start in 2009, our clean energy future is bright,” said Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell.

The other project will be in San Bernardino County, Calif., two miles south of the California-Nevada border.

More than 700 new jobs will be created during the construction of the two projects.
