Son arrested in mom’s death near Elko

CARLIN — A 22-year-old man is suspected of killing his mother and injuring his half-brother in a shooting at a house in Carlin.

The Elko Daily Free Press reports Alan Davis faces charges of open murder, attempted murder and assault in the Monday morning shooting that killed 52-year-old Teresa Black and injured 19-year-old Taylor Black.

Police say they responded to a call at the home about 9 a.m.

Carlin Police Chief Bill Bauer said officers arrested Davis after they found him dazed outside the home and unable to answer questions about the incident.

Taylor Black was found bleeding in an upstairs room with gunshot wounds to his neck and hand. Elko County Deputies say he underwent surgery at University of Utah hospital.

Carlin is 22 miles southwest of Elko.
