Soot-coated pot calls kettle black

After reading an extraneous editorial comment in a Las Vegas Sun “news” story Thursday …

R-J polls do drive the narrative, they say, and always to the benefit of Republicans. (The paper’s editorial page is one of the most right-leaning in the country, often compared to the Washington Times, or a poor man’s Wall Street Journal.)

… alert reader Bob sent a missive asking, “Which paper is more partisan?”

He observed that the editorial endorsements of the two papers showed a decided list to port for the Sun while the R-J was less doctrinaire. The Sun endorsed 47 Democrats and seven Republicans, while the R-J endorsed 32 Republicans and 20 Democrats.

“Several days prior to the election the Sun Letters to the Editors were totally in support of the Democrats whereas the RJ had a fairly even split, and the same was true for the papers individual editorial writers,” Bob writes. “If I want to know both sides of an issue I read the RJ and if I have any time left I may read the Sun only for entertainment but not to increase my knowledge of the issues.”

For a reply to the Sun’s naked allegations of bias regarding our polling techniques and outcomes, read my Sunday column.
