Spears might be returning to altar

Signs point to an announcement that Britney Spears and her manager, Jason Trawick, are engaged and celebrating the occasion and Trawick's 40th birthday in Las Vegas today.

That would explain the unusual secrecy surrounding their appearance tonight, reportedly at Chateau nightclub at Paris Las Vegas.

Sources told Vegas Confidential that Spears' camp insisted that various parties sign confidentiality agreements.

Spears and Trawick are coming off her "Femme Fatale" world tour, which launched in June.

It would be the third marriage for Spears, who turned 30 Dec. 2. They have been dating about two years.

She tweeted on Thursday that she bought him a motorcycle for his birthday.

Spears has a history of making news in Las Vegas. She married childhood friend Jason Alexander on Jan. 3, 2004, during a New Year's stay at the Palms. The annulment process started within hours, and she was out of the marriage 55 hours later.

In September 2007, she had an on-stage meltdown during the MTV Video Music Awards, also at the Palms. She reportedly had tequila shots to calm her nerves for what was to be her comeback launch after personal problems put her career in jeopardy.

She married Kevin Federline on Sept. 18, 2004. They have two children from the two-year marriage.

QUICKIE KARDASHIAN NUPTIALS

Kris Jenner's new book, "All Things Kardashian," sheds some light on daughter Kim Kardashian's little-known Las Vegas wedding.

Jenner and her daughter Kourtney Kardashian became suspicious that something was up when Kim wanted to move out when she was 19.

Their concerns heightened when Kim showed up one day in a new Jaguar.

During a fishing expedition on the Internet, Jenner and Kourtney found a legal document showing Kim had married Damon Thomas, a 30-year-old music producer.

Kim and Thomas had gone to Las Vegas to attend Justin Timberlake's 19th birthday party on Jan. 21, 2000. They got married Jan. 22, 2000, and divorced four years later.

Jenner was not happy. She left Thomas' name out of the book.

The Kardashian clan, in Las Vegas on Thursday for the grand opening of Kardashian Khaos at The Mirage, received an at-times deafening reception from a crowd estimated at 3,000-plus.

THE SCENE AND HEARD

Infighting continues over control of Pure nightclub at Caesars Palace. An emergency meeting has been called for today to halt efforts by Denver financier Gary Dragol, the main investor, from attempting throw out Angel Management Group and the Los Angeles hedge fund Levine Lichtman. Dragol alleges poor management, namely overinflated executives on the payroll. A court proceeding is scheduled next week.
