Stabbing death followed argument over TV

An argument over a flat-screen television turned fatal Thursday when one man stabbed another to death at a south Strip apartment, Las Vegas police said.

Mathew Beard, 22, was arrested and charged with murder with a deadly weapon today in the death of an unidentified male at an apartment complex in the 7200 block of Las Vegas Boulevard South, police said.

About 7:30 p.m. Thursday, officers arrived at the scene to find the victim at the bottom of a staircase with a knife wound in his lower back. He was transported to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Beard was among a group of witnesses surrounding the victim when police arrived at the scene.

According to witnesses, Beard and the victim were arguing over the sale of a television before the stabbing took place, police said.

The name of the victim was being withheld pending an autopsy and identification of kin, according to the Clark County coroner’s office.
