State announces health exchange payment deadline

A key deadline in the Affordable Care Act is fast approaching.

The Silver State Health Insurance Exchange said Friday that Nevadans have until next week to both sign up and pay for coverage through the marketplace.

Monday is the last day to enroll in coverage that takes effect starting Jan. 1. Consumers will have until 11:59 p.m. to sign up.

To make sure the coverage kicks in after the New Year, shoppers must make their first premium payment by 6 p.m. Friday.

To enroll, visit www.nevadahealthlink.com, or call 855-768-5465.

Consumers will be able to enroll in a plan through March 31, but after Monday, there will be a waiting period of 15 days to 45 days before coverage can take effect.
