State reports Northern Nevada inmate death

A Northern Nevada Correctional Center inmate died last week, Department of Corrections officials said Monday.

Cornelius Acres, 60, died at the Regional Medical Facility at the Carson City corrections center after being hospitalized with a terminal illness, officials said.

Acres had been serving a life sentence for an attempted murder conviction in Virginia and had been incarcerated in Nevada since 1997.
