State seeks to return unclaimed property

CARSON CITY -- The state treasurer's office will try to return $406 million in abandoned property to its owners over the next few weeks through advertising in newspapers around the state.

The office will run advertisements that list the names and addresses of 81,598 people whose abandoned property was reported to its unclaimed property division between January 2009 and February 2010.

Residents also can use the agency's online search engine to find out if they have property that should be returned to them.

Go to the treasurer's website at https://nevadatreasurer.gov and click on the "unclaimed property" button.
