Can you make it through an entire day without your computer?

Tomorrow is the day set aside to see if you can give your mouse a rest. And your Blackberry, Treo, iPhone or any other device you use to check e-mail or surf the Web. It's Shutdown Day (www.shutdownday.org). Check it out, register, and let me know AFTER Saturday if you were able to pull the plug for 24 hours.

Yes, the organizers are making it a bit easier, as this cold turkey test is on a Saturday. Most of us will be able to find ways to keep busy during the day away from computers, but it will still be a challenge. I know I'll be up late tonight making sure I have all my computing tasks covered. I also know I'll be online early on Sunday making sure the world spun around me as I diverted my eyes from the screens and my fingers and thumbs from the keyboards.

Let me know how you think you'll handle the day without computers, then come back on Sunday or next week to tell me how it really went.
