Still plenty of time to shop
My calendar tells me Christmas Eve is just a week away. I guess it's time to start my shopping.
If you're a procrastinating elf like me, take heart. There is still time to get deals, both online and in actual brick-and-mortar stores. I prefer to avoid bumping elbows in the checkout line, and instead check to be sure websites have secure payment systems.
(One way to be assured of a certain level of security is the site's domain name. Secure sites start with "https" instead of "http." The designation will usually change when you head to the online shopping cart. Another sign is an icon showing a locked lock. Makes sense. It's in the lower portion of some browsers, and in the upper areas of others.)
I noticed today while my wife placed an order at Amazon.com that free, second-day shipping is still available. Niiiiiiice. The offer is good through Tuesday, and until 7 p.m. Wednesday on some items.
Here's what Amazon is showing today:

Free shipping may not be enough of a game-changer for some of you, but I know I'll be taking advantage of it. Santa should have it so good.
Ho, Ho, Ho.
