Las Vegas police are investigating the armed robbery of a 15-year-old student as he walked to school Monday morning.
The incident happened about 5:30 a.m. as the student walked north on Tenaya Way, near Lake Mead Boulevard, toward Cimarron-Memorial High School.
The victim was heading to school early for sports practice when he was approached by three men in their late teens to early 20s, police said.
One of the men, described to police as a white man with long brown hair tied in a ponytail, pulled out a gun and told the student to "empty your pockets," police said.
The victim gave the suspects a small amount of cash, as well as a cell phone, police said. The suspects fled on foot.
One of the other two men was described as black, the other Hispanic, but the victim was unable to provide additional details.
The white suspect was described as being about 5 foot 8 inches tall and weighing between 200 and 220 pounds. He wore a baseball hat, a black T-shirt and blue jeans, the victim told police.
The student continued walking to school, where he called police to report the incident at 7 a.m., police said.
