Substitute teacher arrested on child porn charges

A Clark County School District substitute teacher was arrested Friday and charged with 17 counts of possession of child pornography.

Aaron M. Ringewold, 26, was arrested after being identified in a Henderson police investigation into the downloading of child pornography, police said.

Ringewold had been teaching at O'Callaghan Middle School and was hired as a long-term substitute teacher on Feb. 26, 2006.

Like all prospective employees, he was subjected to finger-printing and a criminal background check, district officials said.

O'Callaghan Middle School, at 1450 Radwick Drive, near Hollywood Boulevard and Washington Avenue, is closed for the summer.

At this time, police said, there is no evidence the children depicted in the pornography were past or present students of Ringewold.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to contact Henderson police at 267-4750.
