Superintendent candidate’s Dallas contract extended
The School Board for the Dallas Independent School District voted 5-4 today to extend Superintendent Michael Hinojosa's contract until 2015, a three-year extension, according to the Dallas Morning-News.
Hinojosa, one of two finalists for the Clark County School District's top job, interviewed in Las Vegas this morning. The School Board is seeking a successor for retiring Superintendent Walt Rulffes.
The Clark County School Board is scheduled to choose between Hinojosa and Colorado Education Commissioner Dwight Jones on Wednesday.
Hinojosa could not be immediately reached for comment. The Dallas school board did not raise his $328,000 salary. The Clark County School Board is expected to offer $270,000, but Hinojosa could also retire and draw a Texas pension worth an estimated $200,000 if he comes to Clark County.
