Support group to host candlelight vigil at St. Jude’s Ranch
December 4, 2009 - 5:09 pm
Missing loved ones who have passed away can make the holidays a sad time of the year. It's especially tough on families who have lost a child.
A local chapter of a support group for surviving family members, the Compassionate Friends, will host a candlelight vigil on Dec. 13 at St. Jude's Ranch for Children in Boulder City, starting at 7 p.m. The public is invited.
There will be speakers, poetry readings, music and the saying of children's names. Participants are asked to bring a candle to light.
The candlelight is intended to represent a "24-hour wave of light" as Compassionate Friends' groups across the globe light candles in their time zones.
Families are also asked to bring a picture or a special remembrance of a child for a display table. Light refreshments will be served.
St. Jude's Ranch, at 100 St. Jude's Ranch Street, is off State Highway 93 in Boulder City. It will be well-lit with Christmas decorations.
