Support pacts focus of event
August 29, 2009 - 9:00 pm
An outreach event to help financially struggling parents who pay or receive child support will be offered today by the Clark County district attorney's office.
The event is in response to the tough economic situations many families face.
"These are trying economic times for many residents, and it is important that both custodial and non-custodial parents know what options are available to them," Assistant District Attorney Teresa Lowry said. "By working with us, families can make sure they are getting the help due to them, or start the process of modifying their court orders to better reflect their current employment and financial situation."
The division's downtown Las Vegas office at 301 E. Clark Ave. will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Case managers and attorneys will be available to discuss specific case-related questions as well as general information and child support process questions. No appointment is necessary.
Custodial parents are encouraged to bring updated contact information for all family members.
For noncustodial parents, cases will be reviewed for potential modification based on documentation -- pay stubs, tax returns, disability papers, unemployment documents -- that might support a change.
Genetic testing will be available for cases that qualify. Metered parking is available.
