Suspect in baby’s death arrested

The 18-year-old wanted in connection with the death of a toddler last week was arrested Wednesday night and is being held without bail at the Clark County Detention Center.

Las Vegas police had issued an arrest warrant for Jocquise Coleman on charges of murder by child abuse and two counts of child abuse with substantial bodily harm.

Coleman is the boyfriend of the child's mother and was caring for the toddler while she was at work, police said.

He is accused in the death of 16-month-old Lamaj Terry, who was found suffering from blunt force trauma to his head and abdomen at an east valley apartment on Sept. 16.

The child was pronounced dead at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center the next day, authorities said.
