Suspects in home invasion robberies plead not guilty

Four men accused of committing a slew of home invasion robberies in the valley pleaded not guilty to those charges Wednesday.

Prosecutors allege the four -- Leonard Hunt, 33; David Hayes, 35; Jovan Carter, 23; and Abdul Shakir, 40 -- committed at least 15 home invasion robberies since the beginning of the year. The four men planned their crime spree in state prison, while serving time together for other felony convictions, prosecutors said.

In June, a Clark County grand jury indicted the four men on dozens of felony charges, including robbery with use of a deadly weapon, first-degree kidnapping, burglary and grand larceny.

The four men are jailed on $1.5 million bond each at the Clark County Detention Center. Las Vegas police have said roughly $25,000 in stolen merchandise was recovered in connection with the home invasions.
