SUV strikes utility pole in Las Vegas, leaving one dead

One person was killed Saturday night after a sport utility vehicle ran into a utility pole while heading north on Rainbow Boulevard near Lake Mead Boulevard, Las Vegas police said.

Two other occupants were in the SUV at the time of the 8:13 p.m. wreck, but their conditions were unknown, according to Lt. John Liberty, a police watch commander.

The fatal accident investigative team was at the scene late Saturday.
