Take Monday off to celebrate Beethoven
On March 29, 1795, Beethoven debuts as a pianist in Vienna. He was 24.
To honor this great moment in world culture, Heavy Pedal declares this day of Monday, March 29, to be a worldwide holiday whereby you are entitled to take the day off from work and school to listen to the great works of Beethoven.
Or feel free to watch all the racing that was rained out on Sunday.
Here’s Monday’s schedule:
IndyCar from St. Petersburg, Fla., 7 a.m., ESPN2 (31), live;
NASCAR Sprint Cup from Martinsville, Va., 9 a.m., Fox (5), live;
NHRA Four-Wide Nationals from Concord, N.C., 8 a.m. A 30-minute highlight show on ESPN2 (31) is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. that will feature final four-car rounds of Top Fuel and Funny car, and the last two rounds of Pro Stock and Pro Stock Motorcycle.
But rain is forecast Monday at NHRA and NASCAR sites so keep in mind that March 30 celebrates the 1858 patent of a pencil with attached eraser. That certainly is a reason to rejoice away from work.
STOCK CARS
Taylor Barton of Las Vegas placed 12th Saturday in his first NASCAR K&N Pro Series West stock-car race in Roseville, Calif., in which Paulie Harraka, 20, of Wayne, N.J. finished first.
MONSTER TRUCKS
Dennis Anderson in Grave Digger won the racing title Saturday in the Monster Jam World Finals at Sam Boyd Stadium while Charlie Pauken in Monster Mutt was first in freestyle competition.
