Take politics of identity to its logical extension

The politics of idenity, in which people are expected to vote for someone who looks like them, is completely out of hand.

Naming someone to the U.S. Supreme Court almost entirely on the basis of her gender and ethnicity and supposed emphathy is an affront to the Founders. I want someone who thinks like me, not someone who looks like me.

Clarence Thomas thinks like me, but Democrats crucified him. Republicans will not do the same to Sonia Sotomayor, even though her judicial philosophy is contrary to their views.

I have a suggestion. Take identity politics to its logical conclusion. Obama's next pick for the high court should be someone who has practiced Sharia Law.
