Teen arrested on DUI charge in fatal accident
A 19-year-old man was arrested this week in connection with a two-vehicle accident earlier this month in which a passenger in his car died, North Las Vegas police said this morning.
Police said Armando Iribe Jr. was booked Tuesday into the North Las Vegas Detention Center on one felony count of driving under the influence of alcohol with a death and one felony count of reckless driving with a death.
The Clark County coroner’s office identified the deceased man as 21-year-old Jorge Luis Guerrero of Pacoima, Calif. Iribe was driving a white Honda Accord west on Lake Mead Boulevard near Civic Center Drive about 1:15 a.m. on Oct. 11 when the accident occurred, according to police.
Police said Iribe drove into the path of a white 1998 Dodge Ram pickup that was heading east. Iribe was traveling at an estimated 77 mph in a 35 mph zone, police said.
Guerrero was thrown from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. He died of head injuries.
