Teen dies after being shot by friend

A 16-year-old boy was killed Thursday morning after being shot in the head by a friend, Las Vegas police said.

Officer Marcus Martin, a police spokesman, said the shooting happened about 2:15 a.m. in the 300 block of Lehman Street, near Stewart Avenue and Pecos Road.

The boy was transported to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead about 6:15 a.m., he said.

The friend was later arrested in the 2600 block of North Bruce Street, he said. It's not clear whether the shooting was accidental or intentional. The age of the friend was not released.

"We have no details on the friend as of yet," he said.
