Teen killed in North Las Vegas

A 16-year-old boy died after being shot Wednesday night, North Las Vegas police said.

Sgt. Tim Bedwell said police were dispatched about 6:35 p.m. to the 5100 block of Cross Ranch Street, near Camino Al Norte and Washburn Road, on a call of shots fired. Officers found a boy nearby, on Knife River Street.

The boy's identity was not released.

Bedwell said he was transported to University Medical Center, where he died.

No arrests had been made late Wednesday, and police said they had no motive for the shooting. Bedwell said police were interviewing witnesses.

"Right now we're following leads," Bedwell said. "We don't have any suspects."

The slaying is the eighth homicide in North Las Vegas for 2010.

Anyone with information in the case is urged to call the North Las Vegas police at 633-9111 or Crime Stoppers at 385-5555.
