Teens found guilty in man’s death
KINGMAN, Ariz. -- A year-old murder case in northwest Arizona ended Friday with one Golden Valley teen sentenced to prison and another entering a plea agreement in Mohave County Superior Court.
Travis Smith, 18, and Cody Simons, 15, were both determined to be guilty of second-degree murder in the shooting death of Mark Hall, 60.
Defense attorney Dana Hlavac said a deplorable childhood and anxiety from having sex with Hall for pay were factors that pushed Smith to kill Hall at his Golden Valley house last spring.
Mohave County Superior Court Judge Steve Conn ordered a 20-year prison term for Smith. Simons faces a 10- to 16-year prison term when sentenced May 30.
