The thrill of victory

There is something about the printed page. Something about the way the image sears the eyes with many layers of message and nuance. I first looked at the cover of today's sports page and thought: "Nice photo of victorious QB in full throated expression of victory."

Then I looked more closely. Here was a man at the top of his world, telling the whole about what he had just accomplished in a primal, almost primate manner. Here was Tim Tebow, the humble turn-the-other-cheek Christian with John 3:16 (For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.) inked on his cheeks, marking the ending of a violent yet successful and sportsman-like game.

Talk about a picture being worth a thousand words ...
