Think tank launches Mountain West Initiative at UNLV
A prestigious Washington, D.C., think tank has partnered with UNLV and has plans to take up residence at the university, officials announced this morning.
The Brookings Institution, a nonprofit, nonpartisan group, will focus on public policy research and will bring in visiting scholars to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
Plans call for the partnership, dubbed the Mountain West Initiative, to focus on regional problems and solutions.
"This may be one of the most seminal events in UNLV history," the university's president, Neal Smatresk, said.
The institution will be housed alongside the Lincy Institute, which formed a partnership with UNLV last month.
