Three clinics give H1N1 vaccinations to almost 5,000

Nearly 5,000 people received vaccinations for the H1N1 virus at three Southern Nevada Health District clinics Saturday.

Clinics were held from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Del Sol, Mojave and Sierra Vista high schools.

Jennifer Sizemore, a district spokeswoman, said 1,814 people were vaccinated at Del Sol, 1,464 people received vaccinations at Mojave and 1,556 people went to Sierra Vista.

Sizemore said the longest lines were at Del Sol, where the wait lasted about an hour in the morning. But the wait dwindled to about 15 to 20 minutes in the afternoon, she said.

The clinics were for those in high-risk priority groups.

These groups include pregnant women; people who live with or care for children younger than 6 months old; health care and emergency medical services personnel; people between 6 months and 24 years old; and adults up to the age of 64 with chronic health disorders or compromised immune systems.
