Three finalists named for post of CSN chief

A special Board of Regents committee narrowed its search for the next president of the College of Southern Nevada to three candidates on Wednesday.

The finalists are:

Berton L. Glandon, president of Arapahoe Community College in Littleton, Colo., which serves about 20,000 students. He has been at the college for nine years.

Mike Richards, the interim president of CSN, which has 40,000 students. He was named interim president in August after serving as vice president of academic affairs at the college.

Laurence D. Spraggs, the president of Broome Community College in Broome County, N.Y., which has about 6,500 students and is part of the State University of New York system. He has served in the post since July 2004.

The candidates will meet with members of the campus community and the public at each of CSN's three campuses Wednesday. On Thursday, the regents committee will select a finalist for recommendation to the full Board of Regents to select on May 1.
