Time running out to become a voter

CARSON CITY -- Time is running out for anyone who wants to vote in Nevada's June 8 primary but isn't registered to vote.

The secretary of state's office says Tuesday is the last day to register in person at county clerk offices.

Mail-in voter registrations had to be postmarked by May 8 to qualify.

A dozen Republican candidates are hoping to win the nomination to try to unseat likely Democratic winner U.S. Sen. Harry Reid in November.

Republican voters also will decide next month whether incumbent Gov. Jim Gibbons will survive to run for a second term.

Early voting begins Saturday.
