Today is free fishing day at Sunset Park
Grab your tackle boxes, rods and bait to celebrate Nevada’s annual Free Fishing Day. If you don’t have fishing equipment, head over to the County Parks and Recreation Department at Sunset Park from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. today . Clark County will offer free use of fishing equipment on a first-come-first-served basis.
Free Fishing Day is a day to head down to Sunset Lake without a fishing license or trout stamp. A valid driver’s license is needed to rent the equipment. All other fishing rules and regulations still apply.
Sunset Park just celebrated its grand reopening after a major renovation. Significant improvements were made to 75 of the park’s 325 acres, including upgrades to the lake, a walking trail, a restroom, playground and remote-control boat dock. In the park’s center are the last of the sand dunes that once stretched across the southern valley.
The area was home to early ranchers and Native Americans.
