A seven-member coroner's inquest jury on Saturday found an officer's actions justified in the fatal shooting of 21-year-old Trevon Cole.
Cole was shot June 11 by Las Vegas police Det. Bryan Yant, who was serving a search warrant on Cole's east valley apartment when he shot Cole once in the head.
On Saturday, the second day of the inquest, Yant for the first time publicly recounted his version of events.
Yant, when questioned by prosecutors who strongly suggested that he accidentally pulled the trigger as he kicked open the bathroom door, stood by his story that he fired only after Cole thrust his hands toward him as if he had a gun.
"Unfortunately he made an aggressive act toward me. He made me do my job," Yant said.
One prosecutor noted that the evidence pointed toward an accidental discharge and asked Yant to explain.
"I'm not a forensic scientist," Yant responded. "I'm not a physicist. I don't know. That's what I saw."
It was Yant's third shooting, and second fatal shooting, in his 10 years with the Metropolitan Police Department.

Mosque Issue hits home
Some local Muslims are criticizing Sen. Harry Reid for his opposition to a mosque planned near the site of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on New York City.
On Monday, Reid broke ranks with President Barack Obama when he said he thought the mosque and cultural center should be built elsewhere.
Valley Muslim leaders said they don't necessarily support building a mosque at ground zero, either, but weren't happy with how Reid handled the issue.

Truck sparked Blaze
It's official: A work crew clearing brush to prevent fires was to blame for a July 1 blaze that caused $2.5 million damage and burned 600 acres of sensitive fish habitat in Moapa.
According to a report from the Clark County Fire Department, investigators traced the fire to the catalytic converter and exhaust system on a pickup used by the crew, which was working under contract with the Southern Nevada Water Authority.
The fire quickly spread, charring land and destroying a number of structures, including a historic ranch house and other structures at a recreation center operated by the Mormon Church.
