Tourism event’s cancellation causes fallout

The Nevada Legislature is scheduled to go into special session Dec. 8 so it can address the fiscal crisis gripping the state.

Ironically, advance fallout from the session includes some damage to a hospitality business.

On Tuesday, the Nevada Commission on Tourism announced it would cancel its annual Governor's Conference on Tourism because the two-day event would have been held during the special session.

That means fewer customers for hotel rooms, restaurants, gambling tables and other amenities at the Peppermill Resort in Reno, an area hard-hit by a decline in tourism. The Peppermill was supposed to host the event.
