Two Carson City teenagers charged in racial graffiti case

MINDEN -- Two Carson City teenagers have been charged with writing graffiti that advocated white supremacy and violence to Hispanics.

The boys, ages 18 and 15, were taken into custody after swastikas, racial slurs, obscenities and references to skinheads and neo-Nazis were found at homes, parks and other buildings in Douglas County on March 12 and 13.

Appearing Tuesday in Minden juvenile court, the 18-year-old admitted to a charge of defacing various locations while the younger boy denied the allegation.

The 18-year-old was charged as a juvenile because he was 17 when the incidents occurred.

Sentencing was set May 27 for the 18-year-old, who could be placed on probation or sent to a youth detention facility.

The case against the other youth was pending.
