Two fires in Henderson damage homes

Two fires in Henderson kept firefighters busy Thursday, and one of the fires caused minor injuries.

Henderson Fire Department responded about 2:15 p.m. to Valley Verde Drive and Paseo Verde Parkway where the second story of a home was on fire. The occupants were at home. Firefighters were able to keep the fire contained to the room where it started.

One man had minor burns on his hands and was treated at the scene.

Damage to the structure was estimated at $100,000.

Another fire occurred around 8 p.m. Henderson firefighters responded to Basic Road and Kansas Avenue where they found heavy flames and smoke coming from the back of the house.

The house was vacant and no injuries were sustained.

Damage was estimated at $40,000.
