Two Henderson residents escape burning home

A fire that engulfed a single-story home in Henderson Thursday morning claimed the lives of two cats and caused at least $250,000 in damage.

Fire Department officials were called to the home at 41 Chesney Drive, near Pecos and Pebble roads, at 9:45 a.m.

When they arrived, flames and heavy smoke were billowing out of the front windows of the house. It took 15 minutes to get the fire under control.

Two adults who lived at the home were asleep and were awakened by smoke alarms. They got out of the home and were not hurt. A dog survived.

The cause of the fire is being investigated. Officials believe it was accidental in nature.
