Two injured in Henderson house fire

Two people suffered second- and third-degree burns in a house fire early Saturday, according to the Henderson Fire Department.

Firefighters responded to the home at 824 Golden Plata Court, near Racetrack Road and Newport Drive, at 4:58 a.m.

Fire officials said a man and a woman were injured escaping from the home. They were transported to the University Medical Center's Burn Center.

The blaze was extinguished within 10 minutes, fire officials said.

The man and woman were alerted to the fire by the home's smoke alarms. The fire caused an estimated $80,000 worth in damage, and its cause remains under investigation.
