Two Nevadans receive teacher honor
Two Nevada teachers were among 75 from around the country honored this weekend in Los Angeles as winners of the Milken Educator Award.
Ernie Ashby of Orr Middle School in Las Vegas and Valerie Bayarddevolo-Fine of Wooster High School in Reno each received a $25,000 check during ceremonies Sunday.
The Milken Educator Awards, first presented in 1987, represent the largest teacher recognition program in the United States.
Since its inception, more than 2,300 teachers have received a combined $58 million in unrestricted cash awards.
